Simple Tips On Night Time Driving

Not all new drivers are excited to drive a car, especially at night.

Some are still not confident driving at night because when something happens, like a flat tire or if the car stalls, it can be difficult to call for help. That’s where 24-hour roadside assistance comes to picture. However, wouldn’t it be better if you don’t need to call roadside assistance at all?

To help you feel more confident about driving at night, here are a few simple tips that you should remember while driving in the dark:

Clean Your Windshield and Windows

Dirty windows and a dirty windshield may not bother you too much at day time but it’s different at night. At night time, it can easily be the cause of a blinding glare when headlights from other vehicles hit it. It’s possible that you don’t see the dust and dirt in the morning but it will be more obvious at night.

Check Your Lights And Use Them

Before going out for the night time drive, make sure you check your headlights and taillights. Check to see if they are properly aimed. You should also make sure your turn signals are working. The lights will help improve your visibility and it will also help you see better at night. When using your lights, make sure you don’t put it on bright especially when faced with oncoming traffic. That can produce a blinding glare for the other drivers.

Don’t Look Directly Into The Light

When faced with oncoming traffic, try your best not to look at the light. Looking directly at the light can cause temporary blindness. It would be best to cast your gaze down to the right. Temporary blindness while on the road at high speeds can be fatal not only to you but to other people too.

Increase Distance Between Cars

You might be in the rush to go wherever you need to go but that doesn’t mean that you should be too tailgating. Keep your distance at all times so that if something happens with the car in front of you, you will have ample time to react.

Stay Alert And Awake

Make sure you are alert and awake while driving. If you feel the need to sleep, pull over on a safe spot, and take a nap rather than to push yourself to drive. Falling asleep behind the wheel is a common cause of accidents at night.

Don’t Panic When You Experience Car Trouble

Having your car broken down on the road at night can be stressful and scary but you have to calm your self down so that you can think clearly. In that way, you’ll know what to do and won’t end up making more mistakes. If your car breaks down, make sure to find a well-lit spot to pull over. Switch your hazard lights on and call for roadside services.
